Whitehaven is seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Projects Lead to join our Project Team at Blackwater Mine.
This senior leadership position is responsible for the safe, efficient and successful delivery of construction projects across the operation, providing direction and oversight to a team of Project Managers and contractors.

About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Projects, the Construction Projects Lead will oversee a series of construction projects, ensuring successful delivery from concept through to handover.
The role will provide leadership across project planning, procurement, construction execution, contractor management and stakeholder engagement, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Project Supervisors
- Oversee the delivery of construction projects across site
- Provide strategic direction and governance across multiple concurrent projects.
- Manage project supervision resourcing and risk frameworks.
- Drive strong contractor performance, accountability and safety outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative, environmental and site requirements.
- Foster strong relationships with operational, technical and corporate stakeholders.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within project delivery and construction management practices.
- Support the development and execution of the site's capital works program.
About You
- You will have extensive mining industry experience, with significant experience leading construction projects within a mining, resources or heavy industrial environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capability managing project teams, contractors and key stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of construction management methodologies and project delivery frameworks.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- A strong focus on safety leadership and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated success delivering projects safely, on schedule and within budget.
Qualifications
- Experience managing multiple supervisory teams.
- Construction Management experience with trade qualification, construction-related qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Supervisory experience within mining, construction or major project environments.
- Project delivery experience within a mining operation highly regarded.
- Relevant statutory tickets and certifications will be advantageous.
