About Blackwater Mine: 
Situated 73 kms south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of approximately 70 kms. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using 7 draglines with associated truck/shovel prestrip and coal mining. 

About the Role 

Whitehaven Coal is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic HV Electrician working on site at our Blackwater Mine in the Bowen Basin. 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the role will execute both planned, unplanned and corrective tasks issued from the supervisory team. The role will also perform inspections and support scoping of planned and corrective maintenance activities to assure maintenance execution is conducted in a safe and timely manner and maximise fleet availability.

What You’ll Do 

• Complete planned, unplanned and corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
• Ensure that all incidents, accidents and hazards are reported and are followed up correctly to minimise and manage risk.
• Inspect equipment and raise job requests on any defective parts/components found.
• Ensure both effective and efficient use of resources
• This role is a combination of working on field and workshop environment at Blackwater Coal site on either a day or rotating roster.

What You’ll Bring 

• Experience in mining or heavy industry or processing plant.
• Certificate III Electrical (Trade Certificate) or interstate equivalent. 
• Current Unencumbered "C" Class Drivers Licence.
• High levels of organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of SAP
• A Strong commitment to safety
• Previous Dragline/Shovel experience
