Position Overview:


Reporting the General Manager / SSE this key operational role is responsible for leading, and managing the execution of maintenance for mining equipment and infrastructure in line with strategy.  .

This role is key to maximizing production efficiency, minimizing downtime, and contributing to our commitment to a safe and productive work environment. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to fostering teamwork and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Maintenance Planning & Scheduling: Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance plans for all mining equipment and facilities to optimize productivity and equipment reliability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary maintenance team, promoting a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and Whitehaven’s safety standards.
  • Budget Management: Manage and monitor the maintenance budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements in maintenance practices, aiming to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Contractor & Supplier Management: Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of services and materials, adhering to procurement guidelines.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate regular reports on maintenance performance, equipment downtime, costs, and safety metrics to inform strategic decision-making.
     

Key Requirements:
 

  • Experience:  Extensive experience in maintenance management within the mining sector, with a proven track record in leadership roles.
  • Education and Technical Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Extensive  knowledge of maintenance practices, asset management, and reliability engineering.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.  Excellent interpersonal skills including ability t effectively engage both internal and external stakeholders
