Position Summary
Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join our Maintenance and Shutdowns team at our Blackwater operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the long-term reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of critical mining equipment and systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimising maintenance strategies, supporting shutdown planning, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Reliability Improvement:
- Analyse equipment performance data to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and root cause analysis (RCA) processes.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime and maximize asset utilization.
- Shutdown Planning and Execution:
- Provide technical expertise in planning and executing maintenance shutdowns.
- Identify critical path activities and develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure timely project completion.
- Conduct post-shutdown reviews to capture learnings and improve future shutdown performance.
- Asset Management:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the asset management framework aligned
- Develop and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Lead condition monitoring efforts
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive initiatives aimed at reducing operational costs while maintaining safety and reliability standards.
- Provide technical recommendations for equipment modifications and upgrades.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build reliability-focused culture across teams.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure adherence to all statutory, company, and site-specific safety and environmental regulations.
- Prepare and present reliability and maintenance performance reports to stakeholders.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mining Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a Reliability Engineering role within the mining, heavy industrial, or resource sectors.
- Proven track record of supporting maintenance and shutdown activities.
