What you will do:
 

  • Develop safe and effective drill and blast designs that meet to our safety and environmental obligations
  • Develop short-term (weekly, monthly) and long-term (quarterly, annual) drill and blast inputs into the integrated mine plan
  • Monitor and reconcile drill and blast production data
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and conduct technical assessments of explosives and blasting techniques to strive for longer term performance
  • Collaborate with production, engineering and maintenance teams to ensure schedules are realistic and achievable
  • Coordinate with geologists and surveyors to ensure accurate inputs into drill and blast designs
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment


What you will bring:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in mine planning with at least 3 years in a drill and blast engineer role or similar experience at a coal mining operation
  • Proficiency in mine scheduling software (e.g., Deswik, Spry, Blastlogic, Shotplus, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of coal mining operations, geology, and resource management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a track record of leading successful teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geological and engineering data.
