The Training Superintendent will support our Blackwater Mining Operations by supporting our operational employees to be competent and capable in performing their duties. This role will also play a pivotal part to ensure that our operational workforce is meeting all statutory requirements of their role and of the mine.

 

To be successful in this position, you will have a thorough understanding of mining operations, operational role requirements and any relevant QLD legislative requirements pertaining to these positions.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Develop, implement and monitor training strategies to enable business priorities whilst maintaining a safe workplace culture
  • Develop, plan and implement training schedules to ensure competency and compliance of operational staff for site requirements
  • Review and monitor training and assessment documentation to ensure that this meets statutory and mine
  • Use a variety of software applications to develop and implement training progress and requirements to site and other stakeholders
  • Lead, develop and coach a high performing training team to meet strategic outcomes
  • Identify and analyse training needs and skills gaps for the safe performance of the mine operations for mine workers and other persons at the mine and persons in remote operating centres for the mine.
  • Develop and implement an annual training plan that aligns with the mine operational goals with the commitment to mine operational workforce development and leadership.
  • Work with other departments, managers, trainer/assessors and RTOs to deliver training and assessment effectively and efficiently in alignment with the annual training plan.
  • Manage the design and develop training programs and learning resource materials, including both face to face training and online learning, and using the endorsed components of the resources and infrastructure industry training package that are relevant for training and assessment mine workers at the mine and persons in remote operating centre for the mine.
  • Implement and deliver training programs, using various methods and technologies for the learner aptitude and the learning environment, recognising mine worker’s current competencies and prior learning.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and those persons both internally and externally involved in the training and assessment functions for the mine operations.
  • Maintain training and assessment records within the LMS (Learning Management System) in compliance with the Mine Record operational requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Training Scheme operability and Learning Management System functionality by auditing to verifying compliance and taking corrective action.

 

What You’ll Bring

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or related discipline.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Proven experience leading a team in a skill-based training environment
  • Exceptional communications skills and stakeholder engagement capability
  • Proven experience working with RTO’s and auditors
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Previous experience in mining is preferred.
