Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced HR Superintendent to lead day‑to‑day HR delivery at our Blackwater operation. This is a pivotal site‑based leadership role where you’ll guide a capable HR team and partner closely with operational leaders to drive culture, performance, and workforce outcomes.
You’ll sit at the heart of a dynamic HR function that includes:
- HR Manager overseeing the broader people strategy
- This role as HR Superintendent, leading site HR operations and team performance
- Two HR Professionals supporting frontline leaders and workforce needs
- A dedicated offsite HR Information Systems specialist ensuring data accuracy and system efficiency
This structure gives you the support, clarity, and bandwidth to focus on what matters most: building capability, strengthening relationships, and delivering practical, people‑first solutions.
Your Duties
- People strategy execution — Workforce planning, capability uplift, succession, and organisational improvement
- Employee relations — Provide expert guidance, resolve issues early, and maintain a positive site culture
- Leadership coaching — Partner with supervisors and superintendents to build confidence and consistency
- HR operations — Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance, and compliance across the site workforce
