As the Superintendent Pit Operations, you will be the central driver of day‑to‑day mine performance, escalations and priority conflicts. This position facilitates the coordination of all operational areas across the Blackwater open‑cut operation — ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the mine plan.

You’ll work closely with production, drill & blast, load & haul, maintenance, technical services, and contractor teams to keep the entire operation running as a cohesive unit.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership — Lead and direct all pit activities to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Mine Coordination — Oversee the integration of drill & blast, dozer push, load & haul, and ancillary services.
  • Safety Management — Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site standards and legislation.
  • Team Development — Mentor supervisors and frontline leaders to build capability and performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement — Collaborate with technical services, maintenance, and planning teams to optimise short‑ and medium‑term outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement — Identify bottlenecks, implement improvements, and drive operational excellence.
  • Fulfill the role of Duty Maner over weekend periods
  • Facilitate the Daily Site Coordination meeting

 

About You

  • Operations Background with proven leadership in open‑cut mining.
  • Broad Mining Knowledge across production, drill & blast, equipment capability, and mine planning fundamentals.
  • Strong decision‑making skills in fast‑moving operational environments.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
