Technician Maintenance | Boilermaker | Blackwater Mine | Whitehaven Coal


At Whitehaven Coal, we are proud to be Australia's leading producer of premium metallurgical coal. Our Blackwater Mine is a large-scale open-cut operation in the heart of Queensland's Bowen Basin, and we are looking for an experienced Maintenance Boilermaker to join our team.

What You'll Do

As a Technician Maintenance – Boilermaker, you will play an important role in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of mining equipment and infrastructure.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing planned and breakdown maintenance safely and efficiently
  • Performing welding, fabrication and structural repairs on mining equipment and associated infrastructure
  • Diagnosing faults and identifying practical repair solutions
  • Carrying out inspections and preventative maintenance activities
  • Working closely with Supervisors and Maintenance teams to minimise equipment downtime
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and safety standards

 

What You'll Bring

  • To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Australian recognised Trade Qualification as a Boilermaker
  • Previous experience in mining, heavy industry or a similar environment
  • Strong welding, fabrication and repair skills
  • Experience working on heavy mobile equipment will be highly regarded
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A positive attitude and commitment to Whitehaven's STRIVE values – Safety, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Value and Excellence
