Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Long-Term Planner to oversee the development and execution of strategic maintenance plans for our Daunia Mine. The role will be based in Brisbane or Newcastle.  This key role involves optimizing long-term maintenance schedules and ensuring the reliability of mining equipment to maximize efficiency and minimize unplanned downtime. As a senior planner, you will lead cross-functional coordination efforts, using data-driven insights to support operational goals while promoting Whitehaven’s commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement long-term maintenance plans that optimize equipment reliability, availability, and overall operational performance.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure effective resource allocation and schedule alignment.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Utilize maintenance data to monitor equipment performance, identify trends, and make proactive adjustments to long-term strategies.
  • Resource Optimization: Ensure availability and efficient allocation of resources, including parts, tools, and labor, to meet planned maintenance schedules.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency, reduce downtime, and support sustainability goals.
  • Safety & Compliance: Uphold and champion Whitehaven’s safety culture, ensuring all planning activities adhere to company safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills/ Experience:

  • 5+ years in maintenance planning, with a focus on long-term planning in mining, heavy industry, or similar environments

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in maintenance planning software (e.g., SAP, Pronto) and a strong understanding of equipment performance analytics.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and solving complex maintenance planning challenges.
