Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Planner - Long Term Field Maintenance to join our team. This role is essential to our mission, as it ensures long-term, efficient planning for field maintenance operations, equipment reliability, and resource optimization. The Senior Planner will develop, implement, and continuously improve long-term maintenance strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve Whitehaven’s operational goals.  This position can be offered in Brisbane or Newcastle. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Maintenance Planning: Develop and manage long-term maintenance plans, focusing on maximizing equipment uptime, reliability, and life expectancy.
  • Collaborative Team Leadership: Work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to ensure alignment and effective communication of long-term maintenance schedules.
  • Resource Optimization: Coordinate and secure necessary resources, including parts, tools, and labor, to achieve seamless execution of maintenance plans.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize maintenance software and data analysis to monitor equipment performance, identify trends, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve maintenance processes, reduce downtime, and enhance safety and environmental performance.
  • Safety Leadership: Uphold and promote Whitehaven Coal’s core safety standards, ensuring that all maintenance planning activities are conducted with a strong focus on risk management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education & Experience: A minimum of 5+ years in a maintenance planning role within the mining, heavy industry, or similar environment, with proven expertise in long-term planning.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in maintenance planning software (e.g., SAP, Pronto) and strong analytical skills for data interpretation and decision-making.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Safety-Oriented Mindset: Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including knowledge of relevant industry regulations and safety protocols.
