About The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Commercial Specialist to provide expert commercial and management accounting support for Daunia. Working closely with site leadership, operations and maintenance teams, the role ensures robust financial governance, effective cost control, and timely, accurate reporting to support informed operational decisions.

 

Accountable for delivering high-quality commercial outcomes, the Commercial Specialist leads key processes including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and month-end close. By translating financial insights into practical guidance for the site, this role plays a critical part in driving cost discipline, performance transparency and continuous improvement across the operation.

 

This is a site-based position working a 4on/3off Monday to Thursday roster.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Support the month-end close process, assisting with the finalisation of accounts and preparation of variance analysis against budget and forecast in line with reporting timetables.
  • Prepare and post standard journals in the ERP system, including prepayments, accruals and commitments, ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Work closely with site personnel to help ensure financial data is accurately recorded and aligned to budget measures.
  • Assist with the preparation and reporting of annual budgets, five-year plans and reforecasts, contributing to presentations and insights for senior management.
  • Build your commercial capability by supporting general ledger activities, developing BI reporting skills, participating in system testing, and assisting the Commercial Manager with reporting and improvement initiatives.

 

 

What You'll Bring:

  • A Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting, Business or related field, with 5+ years’ experience in management accounting or commercial roles. Mining or heavy industry site experience advantageous.
  • Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, month-end and management reporting.
  • Experience using SAP and BI/planning tools (e.g. TM1 / IBM Planning Analytics) to produce insightful reports.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
  • A positive, integrity-driven mindset with strong communication skills, curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement.
