Daunia mine is a high performing operation in Queensland's Bowen Basin, producing premium metallurgical coal for global export since 2013. About The Role:
We’re seeking an experienced Geologist to join the Daunia team and play a key role in supporting all geological aspects of site operations. In this site-based role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support, engaging with key stakeholders, and contributing to project outcomes that ensure compliance while driving productivity and commercial performance.
This position operates on an 8 days on / 6 days off dayshift roster.
What You'll Do:
- Lead pit inspections and geological signoffs (Top and Floor of Coal), ensuring compliance with operational standards and delivering accurate geological reporting to drive effective coal recovery and reconciliation.
- Oversee highwall mapping and structural data collection, providing critical geological insights to inform short- and medium-term mine planning.
- Drive the development and validation of short-term geological models, minimising coal loss and dilution through robust modelling practices and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide strategic geological input into concept and mine design planning, collaborating cross-functionally at least six months in advance of mining activities.
- Support daily mine operations and project teams with geological expertise, data collection, and reconciliation reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement of geological processes and procedures, with a strong focus on health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
What You'll Bring:
- A Tertiary qualification in Geoscience or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Mine Geologist in an open-cut coal mining environment.
- High level of proficiency with Maptek Vulcan is required.
- Exposure to Maptek PointStudio, Plexer, and ArcGIS is desirable.
