About Daunia Mine:

Daunia is an established operation in the Bowen Basin, which has been producing high quality metallurgical coal for the export market since 2013. It is located south-east of Moranbah, adjacent to Whitehaven’s existing Winchester South development project. Daunia features state-of-the-art infrastructure and mining operations, including well-established autonomous equipment and infrastructure. 

 

About the Role:

Whitehaven are seeking a talented Truck and Shovel Mining Engineer to join the Mine Planning team at our Daunia Mine. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will play an integral role in the design, haulage and scheduling components as well as gaining exposure to the future of open cut mining.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Create, optimise and communicate short term designs and schedules for our truck and shovel and dozer push operations.
  • Execute weekly planning routines and schedule updates.
  • Autonomous haul circuit optimisation.
  • Identifying and implementing cultural and process improvement initiatives across the operation.
  • Driving our safety culture through in field leadership and engagement.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 3+ years’ experience in truck and shovel design and or execution
  • Strong understanding and capability in common industry software applications is essential, particularly Spry, Deswik and Vulcan.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to influence and communicate to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A flexible attitude and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and problem solve.
