Daunia is an established operation in the Bowen Basin, which has been producing high quality metallurgical coal for the export market since 2013. It is located south-east of Moranbah, adjacent to Whitehaven’s existing Winchester South development project. Daunia features state-of-the-art infrastructure and mining operations, including well-established autonomous equipment and infrastructure.

Daunia Mine is the first large scale autonomous metalliferous coal mine in Queensland and has a strong track record for industry leading performance. The mine planning team has a wealth of autonomous related mine planning experience, and this is a fantastic opportunity to lead the design and haulage components and gain exposure to the future of open cut mining.

What You'll Do:

We are enthusiastically seeking a talent professional to join our team in the role of Senior Mining Engineer. Reporting to the Superintendent Planning, you will play an integral role by:-

  • Coordinating short term design inventory and haulage scheduling
  • Creating and maintaining an effective interface between short term and medium term planning
  • Identifyinf and implementing cultural and process improvement initiatives within the team and operation
  • Ensuring that risk in the plan or designs are proactively identified, mitigated and where required adequately controlled
  • Overseeing the implementation and ongoing governance of key standard operating procedures
  • Coaching and mentoring our Mining Engineers
  • Driving our safety culture through in field engagement

 

What You'll Bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 3+ Years experience in truck and shovel design and/or execution
  • Experience using Spry, Deswik and Vulcan software packages preferable;
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to influence  and communicate to a wide range of stakeholders
  • A flexible attitude and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and problem solve;
  • Proven previous experience in a similar role at a senior level or ready to develop into a leader
