Shotfirer

About the Role:  
We are excited to open applications for an experienced Shotfirer to join the Drill & Blast team at our Daunia operation.
 
Shotfirers are accountable for maintaining a safe operation and ensuring compliance with Whitehaven policies and statutory laws. Shotfirers are employed on an even time rotating dayshift only roster (7on:7off). 
 

What You’ll Do:

• Ensure a safe work environment by maintaining high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with site procedures.
• Provide planning and leadership to co-ordinate drill and blast activities across the operation. 
• Perform drill and blast activities that enables mining activity to meet production targets. 
• Implement cost reduction strategies to ensure improvement of blasting results and costs. 
• Closely monitor day-to-day operations and deal with relevant issues as necessary. 

 
What You’ll Bring:  

• You are results driven, solutions focused and highly organised, with 2+ years of proven experience as an open cut Shotfirer.
• Current QLD Shotfirers licence and QLD Explosive Security Clearance.
• S1,2,3 and G2 
• C Class drivers’ licence is required, and HR/MR, Forklift, IT Loader and Stem Truck will be highly regarded.  
• Dyno Digi shot and Blast Controller experience is preferred.
