About the Role:  

Reporting to the Supervisor - Drill & Blast,  Shotfirers plays a critical role in delivering safe, efficient and compliant blasting activities across the operation. This position is responsible for coordinating day-to-day drill and blast activities to support production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, operational performance and statutory compliance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and safety-focused Shotfirer looking to contribute to a high-performing mining operation within a collaborative team environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment through strong safety practices, equipment serviceability and housekeeping standards.
• Coordinate and lead drill and blast activities across the operation to support efficient mining outcomes.
• Execute drill and blast activities to ensure production targets and operational schedules are achieved.
• Identify and implement improvement initiatives to optimise blast performance and reduce operational costs.
• Monitor daily operational activities, proactively resolving issues to ensure safe and efficient site performance. 

What You’ll Bring:  

• Proven experience as an Open Cut Shotfirer with a strong focus on safety, results and operational performance.
• Current Queensland Shotfirer’s Licence and Queensland Explosives Security Clearance.
• Valid S123 and G2 competencies.
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence, with HR/MR, Forklift, IT Loader and Stem Truck tickets highly regarded.
• Experience with Dyno DigiShot and Blast Controller systems, along with a collaborative approach aligned to the Whitehaven STRIVE Values.
